Fighting the Algorithm

Culture is an algorithm. Automatically gauging societal views and beliefs, making corrections throughout time (usually delayed) to represent the consensus reality.

We must be diligent stewards of our limited time on this world.

It is far too easy to give up potential for assurance. But nothing in this life is assured, and there is no limit to potential.

The Algorithm of social media and the internet as whole is a dangerous piece of technology if we are not aware of its mechanism. Sometimes city folk will look down upon the country bumpkins for their beliefs and way of life. This is only exacerbated by the internet and the reinforced walls it will build in your reality tunnel.

Consciously attempt to read or listen to news sources outside of your regulars. Try to understand the head space of another person or group. With a seriously open mind.

We’re all just people trying to do our best in the world.

Challenge yourself. Challenge your belief system. Challenge the why.

Cultural norms change over time, what is normalized today will one day be recognized as human incompetence.

Don’t restrict the possibilities of your life to options displayed on a monitor or spoken by career counselors and authority figures.

Here’s an exercise for you, create alternative social media accounts and follow people who are on the opposite side of the fence from you. Scroll through once a day and spend a few minutes genuinely trying to see their point of view, try to get in their headspace from an unbiased and non-judgmental perspective. You don’t have to join them but SEE them as individual people.

Don’t forget. All is maybe. But this might be a funner existence.
